THE TELECOM OPERA THE ELIXIR OF LOVE
 |
He loves her. She doesn't know he exists. Time to uncork a potion of emotion. | |
The NBR New Zealand Opera and The New Zealand International Arts Festival join forces for the first time to bring together an outstanding international creative team and cast for a charming and intoxicating comedy. And not just in Wellington: for the first time, a Festival opera will also have a full season in Auckland.
The Telecom Opera The Elixir of Love fizzes with high spirits, wit, romance, pathos and passion. In a story of universal appeal, the shy and nerdy Nemorino is head-over-heals in love with the beautiful, unobtainable Adina - the girl every boy wants to be seen with. To win her hand the young hero has to fight off fierce competition from a dashing but overbearing army officer, and enlist the aid of a quack doctor's love potion ...
This funny, sunny opera is a perfect start to 2004's season. Take a sip of this musical love potion and let the magic do its work.
