Bravo Maestro!

Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro is often described as the most perfect comic opera ever written.

The action takes place over one crazy, passion-fuelled day. Bustling with preparations for their imminent nuptials Figaro and Susanna's love and fidelity are tested to the limit as the couple scheme to outwit the philandering Count Almaviva's designs on the bride! A neglected Countess and an amorous adolescent add to the hi-jinks as a hilarious jumble of plots, double crosses and seductions ensue.

In this brand new production celebrated Italian soprano Nuccia Focile plays the Countess with Italian baritone Riccardo Novaro as the Count. NZ bass Wade Kernot sings Figaro and soprano Emma Pearson plays Susanna, we welcome the return of Wendy Dawn Thompson as the cheeky Cherubino. Making his much anticipated NZ directing debut is Aidan Lang, with production design by Robin Rawstorne and Elizabeth Whiting. Renowned UK orchestral conductor Lionel Friend takes the baton.
