Candide will see one of the stalwarts of the Australian stage joins us as Voltaire / Dr Pangloss – fulfilling a life-long ambition!

Reg Livermore AO was awarded one of 10 Life Achievement Awards celebrating Live Performance Australia’s Centenary in December last year. Reg’s career has spanned six decades performing in some of the biggest hits and creating his own work.

Reg comes to Candide fresh from playing Alfred P. Doolittle in Opera Australia’s production of My Fair Lady, directed by Dame Julie Andrews. He played Henry Higgins in the 2008 production (directed by Stuart Maunder).

He’s performed many times with Opera Australia and Victorian Opera, as well as taking the stage in many musicals. He was in the first ever Australian productions of Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror show. He won a Helpmann Award for his Wizard in Wicked in 2015.

Later this year Reg’s new play The Widow Unplugged or An Actor Deploys will be premiere in celebration of Sydney’s Ensemble Theatre’s 60th birthday.
